Facebook Offenders

Sometimes I wonder about the people I’ve chosen to add as “Friends” on Facebook. It’s not necessarily that they’re bad people, but it’s the fact that some of them are just really really annoying. You know the people I’m talking about. Regardless of if they’re a close friend, acquaintance, co-worker, or just someone you know through friends at the bar, every time you see a status update coming through the news feed from any of them, it almost always ends with you sighing, “Oh , Jesus Christ…” with your hand covering your face as you nod in disapproval. Yes, I know… I could easily just hide their updates, but I just… can’t… do… it!! I have this sick, messed up need to see what they’re going to write next, even though I know how frustrated and annoyed it’s going to make me! Does this happen to anyone else? Or am I alone here?? Regardless, I have such a wide array of bullshit waiting for me on my news feed every morning, I figured this would be a good place for me to vent my frustrations. Which brings me to my first subject:

The Obscure Attention Whore

 obscure Facebook Offenders

I seriously have way too many friends that update with this type of BS status update every day… guys AND girls. They leave some vague ass status in hopes that all their friends will come running to their aid. Once they get all of the attention that they’re starving for, or some motivational pep talk they so desperately need, they will always come back and respond with something even more mysterious, that further adds to the brooding persona they’re trying to convey.

Personally, I never respond to these… people that want to offer up their angst on a plate, in a public forum like Facebook no less, have some serious issues. Besides, there will ALWAYS be the Emo Enablers who will come to the rescue. When it’s a female that’s in dire need, it’s typically that creepy guy that everyone knows is ‘secretly’ in love with her, that comes out of hiding to be all ‘deep’ and ‘sensitive,’ but will eventually try to angle his way into her pants. When it’s a guy that’s in need, you don’t have to look too far to find that girl that feels as if it’s her duty to respond to every single status with the insightful wisdom that she conveniently picked up during her walk-of-shame that morning.

It’s because of these Emo Enablers that we have the Obscure Attention Whore. If we would all stop responding to these cries for online help, maybe they would search for attention and support in an APPROPRIATE place, thereby making me less frustrated… and at the end of the day, isn’t that what we’re all here for? To make me happy? Food for thought…
