I was sent down to Long Beach, CA for some erotic teachings in Business Acumen back in August, and while there I got to live out my life long dream of taking a trip into the ghetto. Now I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is the nicest thing I’ve ever done, but I was able to trick someone I met into driving me to the corner of 21st & Lewis Ave… you know… the place where Nate Dogg and Warren G hook a left in the song Regulators?? I mean, safety aside, you have to admit this is just about the most amazing picture you’ve ever seen, right?? Besides,
I was she was too scared to go mid-day, so we drove out there at like 7:00am. Even at that time of day I caught a few looks… weird.
While in the area I also go to drive down to the Blizzard HQ in Irvine to visit my life partner Rodney, and nerd out all over their campus. Unfortunately I found out too late that the Taco Bell HQ was also in Irvine, or I would have scheduled a tour there as well. God, that would have been amazing. Bliz ended up being a pretty sweet place though, and was a nice trip down to Irvine altogether until Rod decided to take us to some shitty vegan restaurant. Such an asshole.
I haven’t spent much time in SoCal, but there are so many beach towns so close together. Besides walking around Long Beach, I was able to hit up Santa Monica, Redondo Beach, and LA since I was able to talk my friend Travis into driving over from Henderson, NV for the weekend. A few of my favorite stops were:
Aquarium of the Pacific – Great aquarium along the Long Beach waterfront. Spent a few hours here, and besides having to sidestep a ton of shitheads that enjoy stopping in the middle of walking lanes, it was a great time.
Santa Monic Pier – We just so happened to stop here during their free concert series, and Save Ferris was playing. Remember them?? To make this even more epic, we decided to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel WHILE listening to Safe Ferris! Did that just blow up your mind?! It might have been the most amazing thing that’s ever happened.
Redondo Pier – Was a great place to stop for dinner and ice cream. I’m not sure there was much more to do than that, other than look out at the water. Still, a pretty cool place to visit.
Few more trips from the area around my hotel in the LBC:
And… one last pic from driving around in LA. We had stopped at some lamp post place by the tar pits that Travis’ wife wanted to see. We told her that we thought it was pretty cool, but yeah.. it’s just a bunch of fucking lights. That’s a big deal in LA I guess?
